When I turn on or off my headlights,They open or close then the motor keeps running making a pretty noisy clicking noise for about 5 sec.
Is this normal??
Is something broke?

Sounds like the gears may be getting worn. The good news is you can buy new gears if/when they fail.
Sounds like the gears and wearing out, it's a easy fix. When they go completly out the clicking won't stop unless you disconnect the power to the troubled light. I have heard that you can extend the gear life by rotating the gear 180* from it's current position, although I have never done that. I always just replaced them.

Oh I SOO KNOW the feeling. Ive spent so much on my vette in the past month I could cry. BUT when I drive it now it was worth it. I just got mine about a month and a half ago. Its my first!
Ive had mine 3 months now and already thinking of selling it.
I love the car just not the problems
I have a nice oil leak on the front of the engine,I will have to pull the water pump and opti to replace the seals that I think are bad
I had to replace the water pump and the optispark. I have also had to replace the whole ignition system, complete tune up with wires and distributer, replace fuel injectors, battery and cables, new ac compressor and conversion to new system, fix oil lak, do tranny service and coolant system service, have gas tank taken off and cleaned and new fuel pump and filter air filter, radio audio unit went out replaced that and it went out again thank God for warranty on that one. I think that covers EVERYTHING Ive had to do in a month. Mine has 63000 miles on it. How many are on yours?
I am amazed at the different answers you have received. I had the same problem when I purchased my 'Vette and looking back I can't believe I waited a year to fix the problem. I'll bet you $10 to a pack of Juicy-Fruit that your gears are fine. Your problem lies in the deteriation of the Delrin bushings that are located in the gears. You can purchase them for ten to twenty dollars, depending on your source. There are excellent threads in here to walk you through it. It will take about an hour and a half to repair the first one and 45 minutes to repair the second one....know what I mean.
Good luck. With moderate wrenching skills you can fix this yourself.

Replaced mine this past summer and running smooth since.
tblt... I wish thats all that was wrong with mine. If you just bite the bullet and get those items fixed youll be happy. the only thing leaking on mine now is the rear deck lid. Needs new rubber seal. Id like to think I could do that but afraid to try. I bought window tint and still havent put that on.
94 Red Vette is right. Just fixed mine (94) as couple of weeks ago. The Derlin bushings disintegrate so the motor keeps turning. Mine were reduced to powder. E-Bay has them and Corvette Central for $6 for a set of three. Each light takes a set. There is a step by step photo sequence posted in this forum somewhere. You can do it yourself with a set of Torx, a punch for the cotter pin, and some patience. Mine now work like new. Take your time and lube and clean everything on your way out. Also a good time to replace the lamps if you want to, or need to upgrade.
Ok I'm getting a white poeder residue under the motors.
Could it be the bushings andd gears or just bushings.
Looks like I can take the cap of the motor where the gears are without pulling the whole thing out.
Any help on this fix would be great.
Bushings are only 5 99 for each light.geras are 29 each or 59 for bronze
Are you hearing a characteristic thunk-a-thunk-a-thunk-a-thunk-a-thunk-a-thunk noise 6 to 8 seconds after they close? If so, it's your Delrin bushings. They've turned to doody. The fix is to order replacement bushings, then replace. A good weekend project.
