My new to me 1989 C4, Stole it for 3 grand! Has lots of miles 200k but runs well, 6 speed, polished wheels. always garaged. awsome sound system custom installed.
Dirty hands and open wallet isnt that what built America? Pans are dry and will be while I own it. (I hope) only going to be a fair weather car for us. Window seals arnt bad but could use replacing. The guy I bought it from semed to rebuild just about everything. He has tons of repair bills. i,m sure more to come but sometimes thats the fun of it.
Now that's a great deal! Now you'll just have an excuse to spend more on it cause you spent so little up front!
I'm happy I spent $6500 on mine...THEN spent another $2500 on new paint, then new electronics, then new carpet pieces, then new exhaust system.....yada yada yada.
Looks nice, I'd say you did all right. What else can you buy for $3000??? A 6 year old Hyundai with over 100K on it as well. You got a lot of fun for a few bucks. Yes, it will need a few more, but they all do. Don't worry about it being perfect, enjoy it and drive the hell out of it.
I wanted a stick and the 6 speed was just a plus. I cant see having a sports car with a auto. trans. Thats like a owning a cadillac with a 4 speed on the floor!

LOL....never thought of it like that. I have stuffed a Cadillac 4.9 into a Fiero, but I kept the auto. Others have done manual versions...does that count?
I don't know how the traffic is in Reno, but when 6 lanes of West Texas freeway grind to a 5 mph stop and go during rush hour, a manual trans can start to suck in short order. I agree with you in principal....rowing your own is a whole lot more fun. And if the car is just a weekend fun car, a manual would be much sportier.
The auto vs manual debate will go on forever.....and Jim is sitting on the edge of his chair in Edmonton just waiting for it to erupt....
