Cool!! Will this work on the early 85 with the button on the console not in the shifter? I'm guessing that might be a "no" if as you suspect that should read 85L-88 not 84L :cry
84s have MK2 and non-MK2 4+3 units just like the other years. I'll let you do a little investigation and let me know when you know what I mean. ;) And yes, 84-85E had the switch on the center console.

What I do have is a GM 84-85 Y Parts and Illustration Catalog... what I don't have is an 85 with a 4+3. All I know regarding this thread topic is what the book shows... thats as far as my investigation goes. So, since you are the one with a 4+3 I think other forum members with the same set up would benefit from you explaining what you mean in the first place... and not me... dontcha think? ;)
(edit) Well Brian, wouldn't ya know my wife was going through the mail this morning and just happened to flip me the very Ecklers catalog you were referencing. If you'll flip to page 334... I think you'll find the answer to your question :yesnod:
Thrills, the answer to your question is No. The first gen **** (Ecklers - A7735) is $75.99  DAYUMN! thats $26 more than the new one they just put out for 85L-88 4+3's. It must be GM NOS...

IBill my Eckler's didn't come yet, so just want to clarify here. They DO have the 84-85E it's just $75 instead? I still want one and that's a lot cheaper than they've been on Ebay!

Actually I was referring to something completely different. :)
There are two different OD units out there. The Z51 and Z52 cars got MK2. I forget what the other RPO code is off the top of my head. MK2 = 0.68:1 gearing, and the other one is a 0.60:1 geared unit. :)
Hi thrills,
I am, obviously, no 4+3 expert but that part number is what Ecklers shows... may want to call them and verify.
Scorp,
That is good info. My 84-85 GM Y Parts and Illustration catalog only shows MK2 with their manual transmission parts figures. Not being a 4+3 owner hinders my knowledge of this setup. Glad you clarified this for me... I learn something new everyday :)

MH5, but I can't remember the ratio for the life of me.
