86 Corvette
Trying to change out the rear bulbs to some LEDs I picked up and was going to change out the turn signal flasher before I went after the bulbs. After searching here I thought I would find it under the passenger hush panel hidden away. I figured I would turn the key and hit the turn signal one way and go for the sound. Problem is the sound is coming from where the hazard flasher is supposed to be. Is that the one that makes the sound when the turn signal is blinking or is the 86 different with both behind the courtesy center? I get the feeling the sound comes from the courtesy but I still have to find the turn flasher somewhere up next to the ECM.
Any help is appreciated.
OK, I found it. You can see it from behind the center panel. I put on my stethescope and put the end on it through an opening and yep I could hear it clicking loud and clear. Next comes the head rush of flipping onto my back and lookin and reachin up for it.

If your `86 is like my `87, there are two flashers. The hazard flasher is behind the information panel over the radio. The turn signal flasher is behind the left side of the "bread loaf". I found it a lot easier to get the turn signal flasher out by first taking out the ECM. By the way, the FSM states that the flasher is located under the driver`s side dash, in the "convenience" center.. No such animal on my car
Finished installing both flashers and all four rear bulbs. The flasher is not where that PDF says at least in my 86. It is between the info center and the ECM way up high. That pic makes it look to be between the fuse/passenger door and ECM. Everything works and now I can change out all the flashing bulbs to LED. The ones from AZ I installed are brighter but look like dots instead of circles from a far distance. The circles were just too dim for me and these can be seen from much farther away.
Oh, don't try to do all of this without some grease for your arms and foot long needle nose pliers.
Thanks everyone.
A pic from my iphone. They look really great and very glad I made the change. Only wish I had purchased the cheapies form ebay first to see how they worked out.
Don`t that pic make it look like its really easy to get to?
I believe it is located above the radio in my 88 - needless to say, I'm not looking forward to having to change it

I've always thought it was a good idea to increase the light output of tail/brake lights - especially on cars that can stop faster than many others on the road. I have never understood why anybody would put covers over their lenses or black out their lenses with paint which decreases the amount of light emitted.
