Up for auction is a 1996 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport Coupe with 105,554 miles. This vehicle has rear damage and will carry a salvage title. The engine starts up and we have driven it around the lot. This car was definitely well maintained before the accident, the interior is very clean, outside is nice other than the back, and it has a brand new set of tires on it.
No, I don't think it is worth 11k with a salvage title.
Even without a salvage, having 105k miles takes it out of the collector car market and into the daily driver market.
Note: The reason it probably has a salvage title, is the insurance company decided it would cost more to fix the car than it's worth.
Salvage title, big deal, fix it up and the neighbors couldn't tell it from any other Corvette. It will always be a Grand Sport. How many salvaged cars do you think they run through Mecums or any of the other auction houses. Do you really think the salvage label sticks through state to state after clearing the auctions and trading hands several times.... not... or I should say not always.
i wouldn't part it. if someone wanted to have a GS at a reasonable price and use it as a project car to learn on or maybe work on with their kin, it wold be a great investment.
That car is junk. With the prices for these gone through the roof I bet somebody buys it,gets the salvage off the title and builds a fake car with a donor.Thats one good thing about the limited number being produced, easy to keep an eye on the VIN.
"The rear part of the frame will need some attention."....pretty general description of what could be a major issue. And a salvage title certainly lowers the value and is a problem in some states. Wouldn't call it junk, but if the price came down a few grand, should be a great pickup for someone.

Now there's a thought; how about conversion to a GS pickup?
1.too high
2.salvage title
3.105,554 miles
4.If you can't do the work you are screwed, a shop will take full advantage of that car.. You'll have 11k in the car plus all purchasing fees.
Then you have parts to get which would run you another 500-1k, than the prep work and paint. IMO you'd have 14-15 into a junk car, that might have frame damage..
If they were lower like around 6-7k I would consider for a car of my own, or track car. I could fix that myself good enough to be happy with.
I wouldn't buy this car, but if someone does, I hope they take a donor car and replace the parts and keep this one a GS. LT4's are a dime a dozen, but there were only 1000 GS.

I take offense to that statement. LT4's are not a dime a dozen for a good clean car. There were more ZR-1s made than LT4s...just food for thought.

Did I say good clean car? How many good clean ZR-1's are there? Not to mention, one could easily take an LT1 and make it an LT4 or better. Not going to make an engine into an LT5.
GS are more than a paint job...they have their own VIN.
I am not hating on the LT4's but all a similar condition LT4 will always be worth less than a similar condition GS.
Just saying don't ruin the GS as a donor for something, else.
