Why not take the front plate cover off, put a sheet of paper over it and use a crayon or similar and do a rub over the letters, that will give you an outline, correct?

Don't have a front plate cover, wish I did.
I took a pic of my spare rear letters, blew up each letter and printed them out. I'll trace the letters onto the stainless and have at it with plasma cutter.
Why don't you just grab the best logo you can find online? Clean it up best you can in photoshop. Then pull into illustrator and run a trace on it. That will clean it up and make it crisp. Then you can expand it also and screw around with it and get it how you want it.

That's basically what I did, with my pic.
I haven't seen any big fonts to work with, all I found were about this size.
