I am considering buying a C5 that was totaled and then rebuilt by a retail outlet. Has anyone had any experience with rebuilt vets? The value of the vet when I am ready to sell, is not a concern.
Nope, I almost did, and I regret not doing it some times.
I could have had an 8 year old stolen C5 with 80k for 10k. needed fender, windshield, roof.
Seller had parts. If you are planning to use the car, then get one.
To me if you are buying it, make sure the price is fair. I could have had that car fine for 12k total. Make sure to plan for problems, or unexpecteds. Totaled is a strong word, depends on the damage, I would stay clear of any structural stuff. body panels are better.
Lnow what you are really buying.

That pretty much sums it up. If you're just looking for a fun car to drive for a few years and aren't concerned with resale value (and you bought it at the right price to begin with) why not?
Almost bought a C5 vert in L.A. a couple of months back, the car had been rebuilt and looked pretty good. The salvage title was the deal killer, ain't no mess like one where the DMV is involved. I bought my two owner C4 with a good title for less and sailed right thru DMV.
The inexpensive entry price for the C5 would be long forgotten with the aggravation of getting it registered from california to NC.....I like to keep things simple.

Find out how it will be titled and what the impact is on you for registration and insurance before you jump.
Thanks for all the response. I will be very careful. I have been around long enough to know what to look for. I just wondered if anyone had one and what they thought.

this is an extremely good point. Do your homework, in person at the DMV and get everything in writing from them as to what is required to register such a vehicle.
In Texas, they have to be inspected by a shop and deemed safe before you can register the vehicle. Each state will vary on this. Know your requirements beforehand so you don't get any nasty surprises.
