I want to put a CD player in my 94 but I don't want to remove the existing radio. How do I do it? Ken
when i bought my 90, it came with just the bose cassette unit. since i wanted the CD player, i went to ebay and bought a correct 90-91 bose cassette/CD assembly. kept the stock appearance - pretty much a plug and play unit. you could get a CD unit for your 94 same way.
about the only other way is a stand alone CD player. some on them had an adapter that plugged into the cassette slot. similar to:
Sometimes you gots to wonder if your putting a band-aid on 20 year old sucky technology. You add a bunch of stuff, and either won't be happy with it or will find that your Blose will kick the bucket (shortly) down the road.
I was like you and for years resisted the temptation to yank the POS out. But after it broke for the second time, I ditched it. Couldn't be happier.
.. but in the event u DON'T want to spend $450 on a state of the art receiver (polo )
an audio cassette adapter plugged into the line-out of a portable cd player is simplest n inexpensive
Ken, does your stock radio have a cassette player? If it does and it works, you should just get a cassette adapter and a mp3 player. I always listen to my mp3 player when I'm driving my vette. It's a lot better than listening to a cd.
Where there is a will there is way. But it depends on how **** you are in terms of music quality. If you are not that concerned you should just replace your system with a CD version as has already been mentioned. keep your original unit to go with the car later when it is passed on. And they all will be at some point.
JMO and what I would do if i wanted to keep the stock look. I tried to keep mine stock but music is something I don't like to compromise on.
