Cant tell ya how it started, probly as a Vette passed a car on the racetrack. Its just a brotherhood thing. With more newer gen Vette owners more interested in the status symbol of the car than brotherhood, sometimes the wave gets forgotten. You will find older gens wave much better, especially we of the forgotten gen. I wave even when I am in my truck which gets me some strange looks. Save the wave!!!
The wave started by one driver swatting at a fly. The other driver thought he was saying hello and waved at the fly swatter. I'm not sure this version will check out on snopes but as far as I know, it could be true.
It's been said that the first wave occurred when the first 1953 Corvette #00001 passed by Corvette #00002.
Don't know if this is true, but it's a nice thought! And lets keep it alive!!!
SAVE THE WAVE
I have heard that version as well. Even if not true I will stand by that.
So it started with vette # 1 and # 2 and continues on. Even if someone doesn't wave back I take this attitude.
In the military you don't salute the man, you salute the rank. So I take the approach that I am waving to the vette. I don't give rats behind if they don't wave back. And I wave even when I'm in my Ram or STS.
Hey, sharp lookin car Randall! You know now that yellow has taken the place of red as the most ticketed..........uh, sorry, I guess you already know that.
Look forward to seeing it in person and meeting up with you. Try again next Saturday (13th) for the Cruise In. I promise it will happen unless bad weather. Sorry, I wont be making it because of work scheduling. I told Dale to look out for you (Blonde guy with '77 white shark) Hes good people as most Vette people are.

I say SAVE THE WAVE. I wave at em' all. A Corvettes a corvette, I find my self waving all the time and not getting one in return. But like it was said, im waving to the vette, not the person.
