I just have to say that im also 19 and own a 86 vette and am in college full time but putting most of my money into fixing the interior first. The one "upgrade" I have made is an air intake setup, but there was other things when I bought the car last summer !!! Love every min. behind that steering wheel Littlesk8craker is your vette stock? JW
mine has shorty headers, corsa exhaust with the resonators removed. other then that pretty stock. when i was shopping i just looked for a convertible 6 speed lt1. the 300 hp is holding me over for now but im ready for more! so far iv replaced most of the parts that tend to wear out, so this year im going to start modding. loving some of these cars! id like to leave mine looking mostly stock, but anything but stock under the hood and in the suspension... someday
heres what im starting with. 94 lt1 6 speed. future plans are someday 383 or 396, anywhere from 600-700 hp , i want to graph a zr-1 rear end on for the wider butt, coilovers etc, rollbar, etc etc. !!!!
I purchased the vents and then added them to the hood with the help of a good friend. It was not a “can be completed in a weekend with some simple hand tools kind of job”. He is a master fabricator and glassed the vents after grinding the hood down so that the vents sit flush with the hood. They were designed with a 1 inch lip to rest on top of the hood. He also constructed two aluminum parts to enclose the air filter for the supercharger. That part of the project took a long time.
The louvers serve two functions by allowing the supercharger access to outside air and the passenger side louver helps to evacuate under hood heat. They also tie in with the rear louvers. The hardest part of the process was having the intestinal fortitude to cut two holes in a perfectly good hood. Measure 27 times cut once.
s(more getting it freshened up at the moment before i start modding)
My issue as well, I bought my vette at 24, been "freshening it up" since. My interior is going to be subtly modified, but nothing drastic. The first thing I noticed when I got the car was the plastic on the dash was smooth while the rest was textured. Tons of sandpaper and some krylon fusion matte black paint later and it's getting there, still need to do the seats and halo.... but stock carpet w/ a ton of dynomat going in this spring.
I eventually want to do a car pc in it, there's a guy doing a build over on mp3car.com in his... 86/87 C4, looks decent.
I WOULD post pictures of my car but everyone would bitch about it.....
That does happen here. But I wouldn't let it stop me. It's your car, and you mod it the way you like it. For those that make negative comments... eff'em.
I wouldnt say mine is highly modified, its only my second year of owning it. Since im away at college and the vette at home i can only do things to it during breaks. Im not trying to do anything outrageous, just giving it some personality to differentiate it from others, still have a lot of work to go. I have GS flares that will be molded in when we paint it in a few weeks as well as picking up a set of black zr-1 wheels.
an incredibly lucky ebay find the guy I bought it from said it was removed from his Callaway but he spray painted it red and was hanging it in his garage or something like that. I still think it's a copy but who knows

Well I'd say you got lucky. How much did you get it for? if you don't mind me asking.
