I got mine when I was 19 too. At that age you probably won't have a plan for the car. You will modify and change and regret and learn too. With the c5 there are just more out there , more support , bigger aftermarket and easily a much better platform to start with. I think you will not regret getting a c5 over. C4 .
Thanks a lot! I lowered it with the traditional lowering wedges up front and the bolts in the rear (usually sold as a kit). I do feel the rear still has some room to go lower.
The front transverse leaf spring was removed (of course-per the instructions) and the existing mounts removed. the poly wedges provided with the kit adhere to the stock location of the previous rubber mounts. the trick is to trim the wedges further than the way they come in the kit. I also had the "pads" at the ends of the springs sanded down to further lower the front end.
Keep in mind I am running 255/40-17 in the front. in comparison to the standard 255/45-17. Giving me a shorter overall height at the tire diameter. I believe this also aided in the outcome and final stance of the car.
a standard 255/45-17 or even a 275 series will fill in the wheel wheel a little bit better and likely raise the front end a little bit.
check out "Z51jeff", he has a ZR1 c4 corvette that has been lowered by using the VB&P front and rear leaf spring. His car is RIDICULOUSLY low! It's tough enough at my current ride height, I have no idea how he manages to get around.
*edit*
I can take some pictures of the engine bay, but it's not detailed (i.e. show car quality). This is my daily driver, so it's not as spotless as some of the examples on this forum.
thanks for the info, i plan on lowering my 94 this summer with the kit your talking about. any more info on how much you took off the wedges? you can p.m. me if youd like. im running 275 tires, do you think id have to worry bout my fronts rubbing if i went as low as you did? im just worried about the clearance from the converts x-brace once its lowered!

iv thought about moving up to a c5 in a few years, but decided it wasnt worth it to me. i like the look and feel of the c4 much better. sure id rather the c5's performance, but for the price id pay to upgrade to a c5, i could throw another 50hp into my c4 and call it even. there are c4's out there with more handling and speed than i could ever dream of, so its not like im limited in sticking with my car. its much easier to make a c4 quicker then a c5 then it is to make a c5 look better then a c4!
[QUOTE=RedLS1GTO;1573069826]Got my first Corvette when I was 19 and have been hopelessly hooked ever since. Here is my current C4 that is nowhere near stock. I think it is a different kind of custom than you were asking for though... this one isn't "pretty."
Corvette Fever cover car in Jan 2005. I just ran across the old magazine this weekend. I'll say it again....I LOVE THAT CAR!!!!!!!

I do believe you might run into problems with the x-brace. The lower control arms are almost parallel with my k-member. Although the 275's shouldn't be a problem
take a look at "z51jeff" profile. He's got a white ZR1 that is SLAMMED! That thing makes my car look like it's lifted! He's ran 275's in the front of his ZR1 without problems. He is (however) running a VB&P front and rear adjustable spring (that's why it's so low).
