It's strange that some will say not to worry about valet parking your older Corvette and that they are just old cars and not worth much. Who are they kidding? They will be the first ones to cry if there was even a tiny scratch put on their car........guaranteed. We've all seen them. I would love to beat the h-ll out of their car as a valet and have them tell me it's OK, go ahead, it's just an old car. Most people don't buy Corvettes as daily grocery getters or the family truckster to take to the malls. They are still bought mainly as pleasure vehicles, which means they are usually well taken care of and guarded from damage. The only Vette owners that probably wouldn't care about valets or public parking lots will be some with the new "leased" C6. They are short term ownership cars with no personal attachments. I never leave my 25 year old Corvette anywhere I can't see it regardless of what dollar value some say it's worth. It's my Corvette worth more than mere dollars.

Fortunately they don't have valets at In-n-Out Burger so I don't have to worry when I go out on a special romantic date.

That aside, I don't worry about my C4 - it is far from perfect so I doubt I'd notice any new damage. I bought it just for things like that. My C6 though is a different story - a valet will never drive it.

I'd take it and park it myself in a space of my choosing far away from anyone else. But then you get the idiot who has to screw with you and park right on top of you. I had a custom painted Roadrunner many years ago and I would park way out but in one space. Every so often some idiot would have to park 6" away from me just for whatever. If he opened his door and banged the car - well let's just say the dent in his car was usually much larger than mine.

I don't even valet my daily driver. I don't trust people in general driving their own car why would I trust one to drive mine. Plus how many of them really can't drive stick...

have fun with your vette, but use common sense. there are some places you probably wouldn't want to go, you know what they are.

Jeez' 5 bucks??? When we go to Mohegan Sun Casino, a twenty at least. We get a compliment from the Valets every time.

The boss and I took the Vette out the other Sunday for her usual mall-fix. I parked away from the Volvo driving mouth breathers and backed up against the curb to wait for the return of my be-loved.

While waiting I walked a short distance over to a coffee shop for a re-fill. By the time I got back there was another Corvette (C6 ) and a Mercedes 500 SL on either side of me. Before the wife returned we were joined by a restored MGA and a silver 350Z...car guys find car guys. Most of the time thats how it just works out around here....at least so far. That said, ain't no way I'll take the coupe to the mall at Christmas time and as for valet parking.....ain't gonna happen.

later, tiny
