Preface:
Ok, seeing that I've only had my vette for a month and Im still new to owning one, I thought I would take it to a vette specialist to get it a grocery list of things it needs. I called LAST WEEK and made an appointment to stop by this morning (friday) at 9:30am. The shop was about 45 minutes away from where I live.
Background:
I work until 12am and live about an hour from where I work. I get home at 1am from work somewhat excited about taking my vette to the shop to have them perform a wallet flush. Set alarm for 7:30am and blah, blah, blah....
7:30am Friday morning (today):
Tired from 5.5 hours of sleep, I drag myself out of a WARM FREAKING BED to drive to San Antonio so the fellas at CORVETTE SPECIALIST can give me a draino enema and take my money for it.
8:45am:
Im on I-35 heading south. It is drizzling and the roads are sloppy, but I push on for approx. 30 STINKING MILES. My once was clean car now looks like a leopard. **Yellow and black SPOTS**
9:30am:
I arrive at the shop. Im looking forward to finding out what kind of things my car will need and to have a plan for how I will attack each problem. Get out and talk to this guy James, he was pretty cool. James told me that it will be a a couple of hours before they can take a look at it. I was like ..."ok, thats cool I guess, Ill have to wait". Since I was told on the phone it would probably take 1-1.5 hours for them to check (hence the appointment at 9:30am) it out I didnt have someone follow me there. Then some BALD MOTHER A-HOLE with a stupid ponytail suggests that I make an appointment for Monday and to come back. I told James that I couldnt do that because I WORK and that is why I made an appointment LAST WEEK to bring it in TODAY (FRIDAY). James was pretty cool and called some TARD GARY, but got his voicemail. I guess Gary was the F-NUTT I made an appointment with last week. James told me that Gary should be there any minute and if I wanted I could hang out until he gets there and sort things out.
10:30am:
Gary, the resident moron C-MUNCH calls and says he is running late. There was something he needed to do and to tell me that they wont be able to do it today. WTF!!! He told James to ask me to make an appointment for NEXT Friday....yeah.....Ill get right on it.......hmmm....isnt that what I had done LAST WEEK????? Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice...SHOOT ME IN THE FREAKING HEAD!
Conclusion:
Approx 60 miles in sloppy drizzling SLOP added to my now leopard colored '86 Vette.
I WILL LET WAL-MART INSTALL A NEW ENGINE IN MY VETTE BEFORE CORVETTE SPECIALIST IN SAN ANTONIO WILL EVER PUT AIR IN MY GDMF TIRES!!!
*PS James, thanks for trying to help out.
ponytail freak boy.....VIAGRA awaits :nono:
Gary.....GO TO H AND DIE, BITE ME!!! :mad :mad :mad
Thanks if you made it this far, Im done. Feel better... Thats all.
I don't live in your part of the country, and I don't know anything about Corvette Specialist (at least not before now). Your "rant" seems fairly even handed. You curse the organization, but praise James, who treated you well. This whole post would look a little different if you'd waited until Monday to write it. But I think it's good. I think that there is a lot to be learned here both by employees and business owners on the subject of CUSTOMER SERVICE, in any industry/business. We should all read between the lines and heed your message. Better luck next time at Wal-Mart or where ever.
Yup I'm with ya! Why bother to take appointments if you don't honor them? I would never go back to a shop that treated me that way. Good luck finding a new shop.
I symathize with you totally !! My girlfriend took her car in and asked that they go over tho whole thing and list the problems so we could decide whether to "hold" or "fold" (sell or keep the car). They asked breifly what was wrong and I was reluctant to tell them. I wanted them to tell me. Long story short, they only addressed the things we specifically listed and missed a great deal of others that were VERY obvious. Bulbs burned out, air bag light on etc. In the long run, the car got $4000 dollars in repairs and STILL had problems when we finally gave up and she traded it. I have never felt so stupid about a repair bill and so incredibly P.O.'d in my life. I have shortened this story by eons, but trust me , I know how you feel. :mad :mad
That's pretty good. There's a corvette specialist in this area when the last couple times I called, they said to call again in a couple weeks to make an appointment. Not you can have an appointment in two weeks. So lets see, I can call you back in two weeks to see when you can fit me in sometime after that???? No thanks. That's when I bought the factory service manual. Much easier (and cheaper) to rely on the book, friends, and the forum.
better you found out then rather then later, you mentioned three people that could not check out your car, never mind working on it. sounds like a bunch of morons to me that dont respect other peoples time and money.in my opinion
your ahead of the game by not letting them work on your car. i go through
the same bs at my local chevy dealership ( the souths largest mr big volume)
that broke my windshield wiper arm, changing the oil.plus all the oily fingerprints all over the hood.is it that hard to spend your hard earned money for some decent service :mad

Re: GRRRRRR (Aerovette)
What a bunch of crap! I agree w/ you completely and maybe someone here can point you to a shop that will respect you, your car and your time. Good Luck! :seeya
The shop was recommended by a forum member trying to help me out and I truly appreciated it. He has had previous dealings with them and was satisfied with the service. I can totally understand being busy, hence the appointment. But to have an appointment to simply have another appointment is just wrong. Im sure the shop does good work or the forum member would not have recommended them, but I guess Ill chalk up this one to.."win some, lose some". However, the trip did save me from having to spend $60 for someone to tell me how muc more money I will have to spend.
Gee, don't you know your time is worth nothing, and that you're on this earth soley for the convenience of shops like this? I'm surprised they didn't just ask you to go home and send them the check so they would'nt have to be bothered with taking it from you in person.
Sometimes you have to wonder how businesses like this stay in business!
Look on the bright side! You did get to drive the Vette for a couple hours...even if it was in the rain and slop with your bed calling your name the whole way! :)
You have every right to be pissed, this shop treated you very badly
even though you had already made an appointment.
My experience with "Corvette" shops leads me to believe that
there are several shops out to rip off the unknowing Corvette owners.
I said several shops and not 'all' Corvette shops.
Anyway, if I were you I would make another appointment and maybe
have a couple of your friends make appointments too and then
not show up. I know that might not sound too nice, but what
comes around goes around.
