Default Custom Air Intake

Hopfully this loaded. I bought an air intake for my 86 vette and it is the T type of intake. I bought the intake knowing it was for a c5 corvette but I knew I would custom fit it. After getting I relized that it was bigger then I thought it would be. So to get it to fit I removed the top bafle. I am wondering if this will effect anything? Will the car run the same, will it cause overheating because it sits infront of the radiator a little, but only on the very top. Thanks for your input!
