Default how do you tell

How can you tell that you got a ZR1 for the older vettes? And when did the first ZR1 come out? And was there a ZO6 out for the C4 vettes?

Pop open the hood to see if it has the LT5 4 cammer. The ZR-1s also have a valet key that resricts horsepower. The bodywork from the doors back were wider to accomadate the wider wheels/tires, 315/35/17s. 1990 was the first year for the production of the ZR-1 until 1995. The Zs from 91 to 95 had the chmsl light on top of the B-pillar as where the standard coupes had then on the facia. There were no ZO6s in the C4 generation. Hope this helps.

The big tail is a dead give away. If you can't tell, look for the black fillers inbetween the backup lights and the license plate. Otherwise, you'll have to pop the hood, then the heavens glow, music plays, and babies cry from is pure awesomeness.

So let me guess...Another new discovery, you bought an L98, but it is mixed with LT1 parts, in a ZR-1 ?

I got a 1990 vette fully loaded with 6 speed tranny. you all see my motor it the L-98. I'm just asking because how often do you see a fully loaded vette with everything that can come with it on it.

Check the label on the underside of the passenger rear compartment (if it's still there). This will give you a list of all the options that came with your car. As an alternative you could contact the NCM. For a fee they will supply you with a build sheet for your VIN.
