I have the Hooker 2149's I didn't jack up the engine. I had the car up about 2 feet in the air. It took me 7 hours to pull the front y pipe, remove manifolds, install headers, and cut the stock y pipe and attach it with reducers and a slip on adapter and clamps. a good day's work... this was temporary until i could get it to an exhaust shop...
well i was working alone, and i did everything... it was running and through the mufflers when i was done. Tools were even put away. Maybe I'm slow., but it is a tight fit.
I've got the Lingenfelter coated long tubes on mine! I love them! Had them on for about a year now and they still look brand new. No discoloration or rusting at all. They are a bit of a bear to install though, especially getting a wrench on the bolts! :cuss
I cant wait to install them and to bring out my car too. The shop were I want to install them wanted like 60$hrs.So tomorrow i'm gonna negotiate him, that's for sure. :smash:

I did my 2149's in about 5 hours. I wasn't rushing, and I had help.
Hedman PN 68440: '84-'91 not coated, no provisions for smog hook ups.
Hedman PN 68440-6: Same as above, except coated.
Hedman PN 68441: '84-'86 not coated, w/AIR system, no EGR.
Hedman PN 68441-6: Same as above, except coated.
I am reading this directly from a catalog that I received from Hedman two days ago. I don't understand the year limitation on the 68441 (-6)'s maybe it has to do with room for pre-cats. If I were seriously considering these headers for a later year, I would call hedman (562-921-0404) for clarification. Good luck.
Ok.I juste called a few speed shops and told me that the ceramic coating is mostly for looks? They want for long tube Hedman painted black330$can and for the Hedman coated 630$can. Is that normal pricing?

I'd say call yet another shop..... I bought a pair of uncoated Hedmans from Summit for $99.
I ordered the 68440's for my 85 and I have a passanger side clearance issue with the collector/floor well. I don't know if it's my car or the header. The drivers side fit fine, but the passanger side pushes up against the floorwell side. It was going to rub a hole in the floor in no time, so I took them back off. (again) I've got only about 50 miles on mine, but if I get the clearance problem figured out, the next set WILL be wraped or coated. The uncoated headers are way to hot.
If the clearance problem turns out to be the header, I'm tempted to order a set of Hookers from Jethot.
