Default Jack stand placement

I'm a newbie to vettes. Where is the best place to position the floor jack for front and back end of car; ditto for jack stands? Does this car require a low profile jack?

This is where you want to put the stands:

Yes, you want a low profile jack. I had gotten a GM Performance Parts low profile jack.

For the front, you jack it up under the center of the K member. That will jack up both tires at the same time.

For the rear, I've had to just jack up one side, place stand, then jack the other side and place stand. I've seen someone mention here that they've jacked the full rear end by placing a block of wood under the spare tire carrier, and jacking there. I've never tried that, but figure it would put alot or strain on that spare tire.

For jacking the rear there's a gizmo called the jack-a-vette sold by the gadgetman. It sits on the jack pad and lifts the car at the differential.

Yeah, but those are a little pricey to only use once or twice. The only time I've needed to jack the rear is to pull the wheels so I can flush the brake fluid.

Jack drivers side by rear jack point until front jack point is high enough to slide a jack stand under.

Reposition jack under front crossmember and lift entire front of car....place stands under front jack points at desired height.

Lift rear one side at a time by shock mounts and position stands under rear jack points.

Bingo....she's on 4 stands in less than 5 minutes. I've swapped transmissions with the stands placed there.
