Default motor question

I am thinking about swapping out my L-98 for a LT-1. What are the pros and cons of the LT-1?

Not worth it the gains are to little...
Just get a HSR or a Tpis mini ram... and u will shoot past those lt1s.
But If you really want to get another motor get an ls1 ls6 or a 383 is the way to go.
Hell you can just about do the 383 for the same price as the lt1 and have 400+ HP / TQ
Good 383 + Tpis mini ram = TQ Monster...
If i ever get a project vette thats my plan!

Buy a converted LT1 intake or a miniram the car will run close to the same as the LT1.

coming from an lt1 guy, dont bother. it will take a decent amount of work for an extra 50 hp. if i were doing any sort of motor swap, id be going with an lsx. otherwise id take what you have now and build a mean 383

You have to own an L98 and love the L98 to be willing to research it to know what it can do !

the general wants something that would be powerful and reliable and they had to staid behind the car for awhile. what you are showing is not close to being stock so we are not on the same field of play

The intake changes are bolt on.
im sorry just not a fan of 92=96 vette's
I wont say anything bad about it cause i dont bash any vette's
ill just say i dont like them at all....
Not a great up grade from an l98....
Unless its a zr1 or a 96 lt4.
Most people upgrade because the bumpers i hate the 92=96 zr1 type back bumper it's quite ugly in my opinion.
The front bumper on the other hand i like better.
Ive been in an lt1 vette i diden't feel much diffrence if people say there is a big diffrence it's in there head.

There's a reason GM dropped the L98 in favor of the LT1.

50 more HP, longer flatter torque curve, 5,500 RPM redline versus what? 4,700 / 4,800?

To the OP. You can mod the L98 match what you would get from an LT1. In the long run it would be easier to go that route then deal with the swap.

My bone stock 92 LT1 ran 13.7 at 58,000 miles with original plugs and not beating on the car. L98 what? Low 14s?

That's in the time slips, not in their head.

My car already has signifigant mods, but the motor is getting quite a few miles on it even though it has been through a partial rebuild.

Get new heads and cam put a stroker crank in that bad boy!
lt1 is a 350 the l98 is a 350 when you mod it should make no diffrence in the end!

My car has everything in this list below.

The front suspension and rear suspension was rebuilt, 8k miles ago
The front and rear brakes have less than 5k miles on them, all is new, calipers ZR1 - front and rear, with a new ZR1
master cylinder and dual ZR1 booster. Brake pads are HD Bosch Ceramic pads.
The exhaust is from a 1995 LT1, the factory headers are 1990 with 2-1/2" aluminized tubing back to the LT1 exhaust.
The engine has a 1996, new 140 amp alternator with a special bracket that replaces the air pump and uses a 6-1/2"
shorter belt.
New water pump. New hoses, belt.
New series 3 Bosch 24# fuel injectors, new fuel pressure regulator, the intake has been removed and new intake
gaskets installed. New fuel pump.
New AC Delco Distributor, new wires, plugs.
New GM HD roller lifters, hardened Moroso push rods, ARP 7/16s studs and hardened guide plates, and Comp Cams
SS roller rocker arms 1.6 ratio.

Port or change the intake upper and lower Supper Ram Tpis mini ram etc. Also decent gains from porting it runners etc..
The exhaust is still a factory one change it!
Go muffler eliminators best bang for your buck.
And always afr heads and a cam.
And a stroker kit will do wonder's
L98's biggest restrictions are in the exhaust and intake also has a pretty whimpy cam in it to.
When you do all that maybe lurk in the parts section for a pro charger.

Hopefully ill find a trashed early c4 for cheap then ill be doing this, this comeing winter and have lots of photo's
i don't want to molest my rare colored one.... so i gotta buy another to play with!
