Default Quick lowering question

Today I had my mechanic pull the front spring from my 95 LT1 so I could cut off the old rubber spacers and glue in the new wedges from VBP. My mechanic has one question that I can't seem to find.......Do the 2 aluminum brackets/retainers need to be cut since you are lowering the height of the spacers? If so how much? Does the spring need to be tight? thanks

Yes the aluminum brackets need to be cut and the spring should be tight.

I don't remember how much but it was on the instructions provided with my lowering wedges...

I had to take mine down I think close to an inch but it depends on how far it ends up dropping so its different for each. I went wedgeless but wish I would have put them in. I know people says its lower without them but from the looks of it on may car the wedges would not even be touching the fram unless I was driving and the suspension was working, in which case it would give that need pivot point. I might put them in this summer but the car drives fine.

I don't know how far you want it lowered but you can make it lower a little by removing the rubber pads that are on the tips of the spring. I did mine and it gave me the perfect height I was aiming for.

Can you explain this a procedure a little more. How much lower did it make the car?

Yes, take a look at this thread.

Mine was sitting exactly like dark stallion's. I did the same thing he did in post #8 (except I cut them with a saw). It wasn't a significant drop but it is perfect for my needs. Brought it down about an inch.

I lowered mine by sanding down the stock wedges, and cut down the retaining brackets accordingly.
Note: You'll need a spacer of some type to get the springs tightend back down to specs. I used the pieces I cut from the bracket and it worked just fine!
