What do you think of the kits on here from Summit? Ive heard that it doesnt get much better than stock, and if its not broke dont fix it, but if its better, its cheap, and easy to install.
I am making the assumption that you have a 85. If you look at the detail for this application it states.....will not fit for computer controller cars......
Looking at the kit, you should see a new set of weights and a vacuum advance module....neither are used in your HEI.
If it has been awhile since a tune up, buy a new cap, rotor and other specific parts as needed. Their price is reasonable.....but not for your application.
You can get GM cap, rotor from NAPA or go with ACCEL brand cap and rotor. Be sure that you get the screw down cap, not the "L" swing bolts. You you feel the need to spend money, get the Brute Thunder coil from Jegs or Summitt. Be sure to get correct colored wires on coil. Check yours before purchase. The ignition module can also be replaced, but from what I have gathered, there is no gain by getting the "Performance" version.
Sent you a PM...check upper right corner at top of screen.

Alright sweet! Going to definitely look into this. I have a low idle, she dies everyonce in a while. Especially if the air is on. Plugs wires cap and rotor are in order to start off with. Easy enough. Recommend a specific spark plug for the 85?
Go with the less expensive AC Delco plugs for the 85 iron heads. If you want to play, you can cut them back....(explained in the files if you want them).
Check TPS setting...should be .54 volts.
May want to clean the IAC sensor which controls air at idle.

Where is this TPS? What do I use to check? Standard voltmeter? What setting? IAC? Where is that? What do I use to clean it if its dirty?
link to the plug cut?
TPS is on the passenger side of the throttle body, held in place with two screws. There is a three wire plug that goes into the sensor. You want to turn the key ON...do not start. Test voltage between the top two wires.....should be .54 volts.
IAC sensor on passenger side of throttle body....four wires. Plugs into underside of the TB. Clean with toothbrush and carb cleaner...or replace.
Suggest that you go out and buy a cheap Haynes manual for 84-96 Corvette. Better than nothing and a good reference to the above parts.
