Default Getting A Key Cut for 1995 C4

Bought an ignition key and door key for my 1995 C4 from Ecklers. Can't seem to find anyone willing to cut them here in Orlando. Any ideas?

A Chevy dealership should be willing to do it, provided you bring proof of ownership along, and they will want to make a copy of your driver's license for documentation. I just had a door key made that way Friday (locked the keys in the car) and it cost $16- I'd hate to think how much a dealer would charge for the ignition key.

I went to my local Chevy dealer yesterday and had a spare set of keys made for my 96. $47............

Now I need another key fob, looks like they're about $150... anybody know where I can get a deal on these?

If you have the old one no big deal but they have to check the resistance on the old one to make a new one ! Or VATs Sucs !

Yes, remotes are expensive. You might do a 'little' better on eBay (but not much). Try cut & pasting:

If you already have the ignition key with the proper value key pellet, go to a Home Depot in the evening hours when business is slow.
Tell them you have a couple of keys you need cut.

The response will be we don't sell car keys. Tell them you have the original keys and the key blanks and only need to have the blanks cut.

If you get someone who knows what they are doing, they can look up what master key the machine needs to duplicate your key.

Even though they don't sell car keys, the machine does have the capability of cutting car keys. They just need to find which master duplicating key the machine needs to cut your key. Same with the door key.

I have done this on two occasions for two Vats type ignition keys.

If the person says they don't know how to do it, ask them to find a more experienced associate.

They will cut the keys for free.

Just make sure as mentioned you buy the correct vats key, you can measure the ohms with a volt meter. If you buy the wrong one it won't work, and any locksmith should be able to cut the key for you, if you have the blanks.
