Yup, the trim may or may not make it.

Is that $150 just for the glass, or for installation as well?

??? - i dont understand why the trim wouldn't make it, but i'm not a glass installer either. as i recall the trim is in 3 pieces, and is held on with phillips screws. the only thing that i can see not making it would be the weather stripping around the windshield. i had the windshield replaced on my 90 last year. the glass shop billed state farm $306 for labor and materials. i have zero deductable on comp, so it didn't cost me anything. the windshield is not OEM, but a brand called "Pilkington". since its a driver, i really didn't care. the glass shop did a super job on the installation.

The trim could already be bad. Or they could damage the trim by banging the trim off.

Also, the weatherstrip retainer can get bent causing water leaks.

That price is too low. They are either using really crappy glass, or the labor is gonna be crap. Go elsewhere.

Sounds like a used piece of glass. I had mine changed as part of a repaint, cost $285 and that was 6 years ago.

I had to get the molding as well. OEM was out ragiously expensive. Found this a aftermarket part for $82.00 at Auto Warehouse Part # 6530681

If you've got the money. I think it would be good to at least replace the two weatherstrip retainers. I believe they are $40 a piece. That way you know those pieces are straight, and they come with the foam tape on the back. So, you don't have to worry about leaks.

Good chance the windshield has never been out of car 24 years. I opted for a new molding when I had mine done and the shop put a small kink in the passenger side relief. Insurance picked up the molding as part of the job. I found a used relief for $50.00 and the shop picked that up, total replacement was just over $500.00. They need to be careful taking it apart and it should not leak after its back together. I took mine to a trip shop that way if there was a problem they would be there to fix it, not some guy showing up in my drive way in a truck.
What is this "relief" you are talking about? Never heard of it before.

I think when you say "molding" you are talking about weatherstripping? Never heard it called molding before.

And yes, the glass should not leak. I've seen many C4's with poor windshield installs. You can tell from the banged up looking windshield trim. And a rusted VIN plate.

OP, tell the shop you want a guarantee on water leaks and that you want it sealed up as the VIN plate can rust is yours has a metal VIN plate.

Also, they will need to clean up and prime the windshield frame. As there may be some rust there and they will probably nick the frame, which could cause rust later. So, ask if they clean up and prime the windshield frame to clean up and prevent rust.

Had my windsheild replaced, Glass was $450.00 and trim and weatherstrip was an additional $225.00. Insurance paid the whole bill. Labour was included in the above. Sure that the glass company inflated the bill knowing that it was being put through insurance.

That sure must be nice. In my state, my deductible applies. So, I might as well pay out of pocket.

Everyone calls weatherstripping as weatherstripping.

I have heard people call the metal piece around the windshield as reveal molding or trim.

The part that holds the weatherstripping is called a retainer.

I still don't know what a "relief" is.
