Default Wiper Blades

Lots of folks here in the forum have had success with the Trico blades. Costco sells some goodyear wiper blades. They worked fine on my 05 Chevy Silverado. Anyone try the goodyear wiper blades on your C4. Mine is a 96.

Thanks!

I haven't had to change my blades but some of the members in our club have and you need to be careful of the clearance from the hood. Some of the replacement blades are higher than OEM. They seem OK until you try to use them and they won't come out from under the hood.

Default Just replace the rubber part.

Eagleye is right about the importance of clearance with wipers. Although I live in the desert we do have a rainy season and I recently looked at my blades with an eye toward replacement because they are one of the easiest things to replace and why wait for rain to see if they are worn?
But when you go to the local parts store all they have is generic replacements and most of them I found are too tall to fit under the hood. Even the dealer had only too tall generic replacements. So what I did was this: Instead of replacing the entire assembly I asked for the rubber blade only, the part that slides out of the holder. Parts stores carry them but do not always display them on the shelf. In my case the driver's side blade sits below the hood line and must clear the hood when activated. The other blade sits just outside the hood and so won't pose a clearance problem. So just get the rubber part and keep the original blade assembly if possible. Cheaper too.

I don't see the point in just replacing the rubber. There are tons of wiper blades easily available that will work for the C4.

Trico Exact Fit
Trico Teflon
Anco Aerovantage
Regular Anco
The dealer has them for 95-96. I wouldn't get them there for 84-94 as they suck.

Some have reported the RainX Weatherbeaters work. I would say from looking at it, that it looks like the regular Micheline wiper blades would work. And it looks like the Duralast wiper blades would work. But these haven't been verified as I've just eyeballed them.

I've been using "Exact Fit" for the past six years. I change the wipers often.....driving to work or going home in the rain, at least one day in five.

Those costco blades are great. Bad thing is they wont clear the hood on a vette. The middle part of the blade where the arm attaches to is so big

I aint sure which RainX ones I bought but they dont have any "suspension" so they go under fine but they hang on the lower pedestals and still stick up. Later C4 wiper arms are bent a little different than the early ones I understand to help with the clash problems. I stripped one arm and I am not even sure which year the replacement came from.

The RainX ones that are supposed to work are the Weatherbeaters blades.

I think the best thing to do to fix the wiper clash problem is to install 19" or 18" wiper blades. I'd just go with the same size on both sides so you can rotate them later on if you don't feel like replacing them too often. The shorter blade would also help fix the other problem people have with the blades hitting the windshield trim.

Though, you have to check that the shorter blade will work with whatever brand you choose. As for the 84-94, that trick won't work with the Anco Aerovantage. As when you go to a shorter blade, the side you need shorter remains the same length, it's the other side that gets shorter.

I havent had any clash problems since replacing the arms/blades and I hope I never do again. My arm stripped 400 miles from home, the Sunday after Thanksgiving. There was a 4 hr traffic jam between Knoxville and Chattanooga and of course it was raining. Luckily when you are actually moving, the Vettes windshield is raked enough for rain to run off well. Sitting in the I40 parking lot and advancing in 50 ft, 1st gear jumps was definitely a PITA.

The RainX ones I bought are just a wide blade with a pivot. I adjusted the pedestal stops down as far as they would go but they are still too high and the arm too low to let the arms park under the hood. They dont get hung up on the hood, just dont go back by themselves. It doesnt really bother me, I lift and stuff them after the rain. The blades work great and thats what matters. I will use one of the ones Josh suggested next time when these wear out.
