Default Reading these codes from abdl.?

Oops, ALDL..not abdl...oh well..

Shorting A to G is a well known act to retrieve fault codes from our cars.

When in the mode, pressing "Trip", then "Eng/Met" will also display info. Some will actually test dash idiot lights, horns etc.
The one I'm interested in is code Number 6, which is the passkey number.

I swear I've seen a conversion chart somewhere that will then let you look up your key number.
In my case, my #6 code is 109. 109 should then relate to a resistance value or a key number...right?

Below is the chart for the info you can get pressing Trip and Eng/Met while shorting A-G.
This is taken from a thread here at CF.
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c4-t...n-96-cars.html
Now for the fun part: The CCM data, input, and outputs. These are options .2, .3, and .4 in the CCM module menu, respectively. After selecting any of these, press "eng met" to go to the next value and "fuel info" to go to the previous. The selections are:

Display CCM Data (Mode 1.2):
01 - Fuel Level (Gallons, tenths)
02 - Dimming Potentiometer
03 - Ambient Light Sensor
04 - Rear Defogger Timer
05 - Vehicle Speed
06 - Pass-Key
07 - Ignition Voltage
08 - Switched Voltage
09 - Cluster dimming
10 - LCD backlight dimming
11 - Radio & Climate dimming
12 - LED dimming
13 & 14 - Vehicle configuration
15 - Oil monitor count
16 - CCM version

Display CCM input status (Mode 1.3):

1 - PassKey fuel
2 - English/metric status
3 - Door key switch
4 - Right Door ajar
5 - Left door ajar
6 - key in ignition but in "off" or "acc" position
7 - hatch ajar
8 - Power door unlock
9 - Power door lock
10 - Parking lights
11 - Rear defogger input (car must be running)
12 - Seat belt switch
13 - High beam switch
14 - Low oil level switch

These values are either "1" or "0," and when toggled, the new value will be appended on to the old value (01 means it was 0 but is now 1).

Cycle CCM Outputs (Mode 1.4):

Selecting these options will manually activate the lights and sounds the CCM produces.

1 - Change oil light
2 - Check gauges indicator
3 - Fasten seatbelt indicator
4 - Security lamp
5 - High beam indicator
6 & 7 - chimes
8 - LCD blanking
9 - Defogger relay
10 - Courtesy lamp
11 - Low oil lamp
12 - Theft relay
13 - DAB relay
14 - door ajar light
15 - Horns (This will actually beep the horns, watch out!)

OK...Thoughts on 1.2 (6) passkey info?
I'm thinking that if you lose your key with the resistor pellet, you can get a key cut w/out pellet, short A-G, get passkey info, buy correct key and have cut and you now have a good correct key??

All good information, thanks for sharing.

Being a guy from the old school method of diagnostics I used an ohm meter to check what the pill resistance in my key is. I then compared the value to a chart here on the forum to get the pill #.

From N IN?
Is Illiana speedway still open? I know it changed hands after Harry Mullinar (sp?) passed & the new owner reconfigured the track maybe 10 or so years ago.

Yep, every Sat night. I hear them loud and clear, it's about 1/2 mile from my house. They claim they are going to close every year, but they dont.

I have a good key, so I'm gtg there. It;s just I hear sone folks who get stuck, I thought this might be a simple way out to get the right resistance info for a new key.
My FSM states to use an interagator (sp), ect that's been posted here at CF quite oftem. You can also get the info of the lock passkey cylinder ( according to my FSM) or from the original bill of sale.

Anyway, I have only ONE key, I need to get another ASAP before I end up losing it and get stuck in the same situation as others have been in.
