Sounds like a decent trade. The Deville makes more power than your Corvette does, plus it will fit your whole family easily.
The 2000 is the redesigned Northstar, they seem to be more reliable, and you don't have to pay for premium fuel.
It's not faster then my c4....
And its not new enough and to many miles if it had 40k id look twice at it tho.
Waiting on a CTS or an STS dont really like the deville's aka DTS
I know I'm gonna catch a lot of flak for this, but a C4 unless you've built it for competition shouldn't have to go against a newer EVO. These cars are gettin old and don't need to be beat anymore sure, throw a lot of performance bits at it and it'll probably take an EVO (but honestly though those things are damn quick) on the street, unless you got some super sticky tires, lots of power and a dialed suspension the EVO's gonna take you. Any moron can rev an EVO, pop the clutch and launch that little thing like a pro. Not so much on a 20 year old TPI Corvette.
To quote another forum member, it [the car] 'does not have the panache a Corvette has'.
You cannot fight the time factor of two cars separated by 20 years of technological advancements, but keep in mind you're in a true sports car...you don't have 2 additional seats getting in the way of your design (proper and slim versus a bulging sedan). Plus the 'Vette's sleek appearance will always stand out in a crowd compared to all the fat-bottomed body kits found on many tuners.
Not everyone will recognize the name "EVO", but everyone knows what a "CORVETTE" is.

this. every time I just roll thru a walmart parking lot or strip mall with my vette, kids point and smile....so do adults. No one points and smiles at a friggn EVO.
I have a brother also and we both love cars. There is nothing wrong with a little brotherly competition. And definitely nothing wrong if you have the means to fund your hobby. I have a C6Z, he has a Viper GTS.
We love each others cars, but neither are ricers
Not sure what your mods are, but if you are fairly stock, he will eat your lunch. And to get back to your original question, YES, a C5Z and a C6Z would rape an EVO. A base C6 would do it. A LS1 C5 driven properly would be a close race.

I know a couple of guys that own EVO's and they are fast little car in stock forum. In 2004 a subru lined up with me at the local 1/8 mile track and ate my lunch twice. Both our cars were bone stock and he beat me by a full car lenght. I couldn't let the Corvette name take a beating like that. So one year later I had a 383 to replace my 125K L98. After all the mods I have done to date no EVO or Subru or any ricer will line up with me unless they are modded. One of the cheapest mods I would do is #1 get a set of Drag radials. If you can't get traction you will lose the race. #2 Get nitrous! Caution!!! Don't spary off the line with sticky tires !! If you want to mod your car to beat your brother don't fund it by getting a home equity loan. If you do decide to mod your car to beat him... it will be the begining of something that has no end.
Is it just me, but who cares about an EVO? Does anyone really think Hokie should get a different car to keep up with is Bro's EVO?
I have to call on the premise of this whole thread. Hokie, according to his own words, can't afford to pay attention let alone get a C5 Z06.
I have enough to get a c5 zo6.
Im just cheap. with a wife and baby a 2 seater kinda worthless to me so why i haven't took the leap to get one!
CTS V seems a better bet to me.

My buddy has an EVO 8 with about 10,000 dollars worth of mods and its making about 325 whp..He Paid someone to make all the mods and tune it so he hasn't a clue how or why it works, It also breaks parts ALL the time.
I make a pass in his car it runs 12.20 he makes a pass it runs 14's.. hes young Very young. he thinks they set the rev limiter to where your supposed to shift and i aint telling him different

Wait a minute, before your last hiatus from the forum, you were dead broke, taking out title loans on your vette and wondering how you were going to support a wife and child and trying to get a min-van. Now you're buying a Z06 just to keep up with your brother, I find it so hard to take anything you say seriously, which story do I believe?
