Default Question about FX3 shocks

I finally started doing some engine compartment stuff on the 91 I bought in December. Cleaned the throttle body and the space between the radiator and AC condenser.
I have spent most of my time on the exterior as the paint was quite faded.
Today I started to clean up some of the crud on the suspension and in the engine bay. That is when I noticed that the left shock absorber is an AC Delco and the right is a Bilstein. The car is equipped with FX3. The Delco shock has a gear on the top with wires going to it just like the Bilstein on the other side.
I was not aware that Delco made an FX3 shock.
I bought the car from the original owner and he saved every piece of maintenance paper on the car and passed the file on to me. There is nothing in the folder that says anything about replacing one of the shocks.

Default Any advice on how to take off the hood?

Deleted this portion as it was supposed to be a separate post. The perils of late night posting!

My '92 originals have a label with both Bilstein and AC Delco.

My 92 had FX3 and the shocks were yellow with the Bilstein and AC Delco labels. It's possible that the car may have had one shock replaced under warranty but with no paperwork.

A buddy has a 90 ZR1 and it has all yellow shocks with both Bilstein and AC Delco decals and they are original to the car.

Could be that a batch of shocks delivered to the Assembly Plant may have not received the proper decals.....

For removing the hood, there should no real reason to remove the headlamp buckets as they will serve as alignment points when you are ready to replace the hood after the cleanup and painting.

If you get a new shock from bilstein you get no lables for around $200. Go to AC Delco or Gm parts you get the stickers and a new shock for some where around $600.

Your AC Delco shock is still yellow? Mine are labeled AC and Bilstein. None are just AC.
