...to go look at other threads THIS one drags me back in with people both losing weight AND gaining height, beating a 14 second car with a Puff the Magic Dragon-inspired 409/L98 that's a LOT more powerful than an L98 so it can't BE an L98...plus now we have non-existent pics of a probably non-existent wife posing next to a non-existent Super-Duper-Genuine-Limited-Edition GOLDEN (at least it's not a Polo Green...poor Polo and Friz would have to repaint due to " Guilt by Paint Association") and poor Red's tried and true patience has got to be wearing thin with the answers he seeks going non-answered. On a positive note...we DID obtain a new "term" that I'm sure more than a few non-noobs will try out at least once.
As for the ramblings of the HokeyMeister....I'm guessing one of two possibilities... 1. Split personality disorder which causes the single aformentioned corvette to take on multiple engine RPO's on a given day....or 2. Loads upon loads of "recreational pharmacueticals". And Mike...I agree...this needs to be a sticky. Can we submit sticky titles for consideration? Might I suggest "Hokies Horrific High Performance Honda Hounding Hologram"? Hologram cuz as we ALL know...golden vettes take on an eerie sheen when exposed to sunlight at different angles

After reading through this entire thread, I think that I now require two of each of the above, chased with many, many beer's! Hoke....you need to relocate...I mean this is over the top.
I knew the temptation was too great...he continues to add to the "legend". The beautiful thing about telling the truth is....you only have to remember ONE STORY

Do you guys remember the old serialized westerns?? you know the cliff hangers?? This is like that.. every installment just gets further into fantasy, but like those old cliff hangers ya just keep watching..cause ya have to know how it ends?
Well If its a 409 you can tell easily enough, there is no other engine on the planet that looks like it. vlalve covers as big a s 426 hemi and shaped like a w
If it doesnt look like that it aint a 409

true 348-409 but i didn't want to muddy the waters..lol Actually the 348-409 were stump pulling torque monsters..
when I bought it the guy that owned it said.. "It dont run very good and it gets terrible gas mileage, it barely idles at all" lol.. It was a 409 with 2 carter 4 bbls and a solid lifter cam that hadnt been touched in about 10 years. I bought the car for 150 bucks..
One good tuneup later those polyglass gt 70's didnt stand a chance.
But I think the last year for the 409 was 64 or 65..
and yes Virginia 409's went road racing.. just not in corvettes in the 80's
