Default abs light

Well, the my 87 is stll running pretty well until this morning on the way into work. I'm listening to a cd, have the running lights and the ac on-eastern mass is getting pretty hot these days- and the abs light comes on with a warning chime. after some choice thoughts, I pulled over to a parking lot, shut off the lights and the chime stopped- abs light still on. At lunch time I went out, and with the key off, checked the fuses-none seem cooked. When I started the car, the abs light is still on, now the climate control is not functioning-no lights- no ac- nada!
Help me, gang-
Thanks,
Paul

There is no connection between a/c and ABS, two separate problems. See if there are any stored codes. Check the fuse near the blower motor with an ohmeter, it has better eyesight than you do. Any further a/c checking, you need the GM electrical diagnosis manual, there are three pages of diagnosis for the a/c controller. Find a spare ABS unit and try it in place of yours. I doubt any GM dealers still have their ABS checker computer for 87's, but you might call all the local dealers and see. There is no easy way to check the ABS.

Thanks for the information. I've made an appt with a well recommended corvette shop in Taunton ,Ma., for the abs. Can I access any codes via the aldc plug under the dash for the electronic climate control? If so, how? I heard I could use a paper clip .
Thoughts?
