VATS question
while washing my 87 i hit the wiper switch. next thing i knew, there was an alarm going off. i wasn't even aware it had that system. i ut the key in the ignition, started the car, and alarm kept going off. i had to disconnect the battery to get it to stop. after i hooked the battery back up, the system reset itself. anybody know how to shut the alarm off without unhooking the battery?

Unlocking the drivers door with the key will (or should) disarm the security system.
It should also silence the alarm if it is sounding.
Note: Above assumes it's the factory alarm, and not some aftermarket system installed.
