Default Broken windshield!

Not sure how,but my windshield is broken. Pictures to come.

Looks like an impact at the base of the windshield near the wipers. Cracks are spreading upwards due to vibration and heat I suspect.

What is the cost of a replacement? Any suggested vendors?

1986 Corvette coupe in Los Angeles, CA.

Prices will vary depending on the state you live in. You have to be extra carefull with the install and mouldings. I would suggest talking to a vet specialist and see who they use or contact a vet club and also see who they would use-they have to be experienced with the C4. There are some threads with this topic
good luck

How much is a new windshield? I've heard of people getting their windshield replaced for less than $300 and that included the price of a new windshield.

I just had the one in the GS replaced for $200 installed. My wife is a insurance adjuster and got me a good deal. I also pulled off all the moldings and weatherstripping. Amazing how nice a new windshield is.

Also what affects the price is if you get an import or domestic windshield. A friend of mine had Safelite auto glass install his and they did a good job..WW

In some states, (including KY) windshield replacement is FREE with no deductible or premium increase, either.

They're considered mandatory vehicle safety equipment. Call your agent before you plunk down cash you may not have to.

It depends on what glass you get. And if you have to replace the molding and weatherstripping. And how much the guy charges you. As some guys charge alot since the C4 is a pain, but others have gotten pretty good deals. The main thing is the glass getting installed right. Even if you get it done for cheap, sure does suck if the windshield isn't positioned correctly, the trim looks all banged up, or it leaks.

I like the way the windshield looks with the trim vs. a frame like on the 3rd gens. But having the trim does make it a nightmare if you have to replace the windshield.

A few insurance companies have specific glass programs that reduce your deductible below your normal comp. rate.

And as said above several states are 0 deductible.
