I have a 92 convertable and the flat metal plate under the front lip of the top is rusted. All the bows and teh top are excellent. Where can I find a plate to replace the bad one?
I'm in the same situation on my 1992 Convertible. The top plate is totally rusted and I have not been able to find a new or used replacement. It seems this might have been a common problem?
Does anyone have a part number and name for this piece?
I'm very close to getting the car back on the road again after it was sitting since 2004!
I'm not sure the piece you're talking about, but is it removable? If it is, what about taking it out, sandblasting it and then either painting, plating or powdercoating it? That's a possible alternative if you can't find a suitable replacement.
Same problem here. I have been looking for two years. Currently running without, but do not drive in the rain. I am thinking about sand blasting and laying it up with fiberglass. If I do I'll post pictures.
When I replaced my top i had to take that part off. Mine was rusty, too, but there was enough left that I Wire brushed it to bare metal and primed and painted it. It's been two years and has held up well. It doesnt hurt that I keep it in a garage, and avoid driving in rain.
See if you can restore the one you've got while you look for a replacement. They've got to be rare since so many others have deteriorated panels.
