OH boy..... I planned on ordering the Black GS repos from AFS today, I went as far as to get the GS flares from 18carfan. So the flares come today as did the black lug covers..... took the flares to the body shop to get painted. Came home and called AFS to order the wheels and I was told they on have the 11 inch rears in stock and wont be making anymore 9.5 front for a few months??? WTF..... this blows!!!!!!! Does anyone know whats up with this??? Is there anywhere else to get the Black GS repo's??? The A-Molds are just too mush $$$ or a would have order them tonight ... Come on forum guru's help me out here!!!!!
Thanks,
Scott
This is making me :U
I had the same problem. I don't think AFS actually makes wheels though. They get them from a company called Detroit wheel. Get ahold of them and you may be able to get a set.
Well, not sure where else you can get them. But at least AFS told you the truth unlike what they did to me two years ago.
They said they would get some GS wheels in a week or so. I had a whole set on back order for 8 weeks before they finally told me the truth on why they did not have GS wheels in stock. In those 8 weeks they never returned any of my calls. They really screwed me over more than they know.
Will never order anything from them. Oh well.
There is a guy on ebay, seller name "moore9111" or something like that...he sells 9.5's (set of four) for $595 buy it now or something like that. They are made by Detroit Wheel, as Lee said, who AFS gets at least some of their wheels from. I bought my chome wheels from this ebay seller and they were gorgeous. A whole set of chrome rims like AFS sells for less than $900. Try it! Look up on ebay "zr1 rims" and there are plenty of sets in both offsets. BUT I don't think they have the black...but if you need them powdercoated you can get them cheap this way at least?
That is one of the problems with AFS. I love their wheels, but I originally wanted the silver powder coated wheels. EXACT SAME THING.....I mean they were out of stock for over a month!!!!! I broke down and got polished, since that was my second choice anyway. Still not sure if I woulda preferred the painted or not. Oh well.
At least their combo tire/wheel price is good. You really cant beat it if you want the 11 inch rears.
I got my wheels (9.5 and 11) from my Chevy dealer for $325 each. $20 for the center caps and they threw in the lug covers for nothing. I thought it was a good deal for original parts.
