Hey. We've got a nice day here on Long Island and I tried to take off the removable top to my '87. What do I do? I removed the two obvious bolts but the top didn't come off. Is there some kind of trick?
There are two bolts under the sunvisors and the two rear ones.. on the rear there will be three bolts on each side, you want to loosen the center ones. No need to take the bolts all the way out and the front ones don't come out.
now that you know how to take the top off
do you know how to store it in the rear of the car, sal?
gotta be real careful putting it in the rear some idiot who owned my car before me cracked one of the plastic housings that sits over the lil bumper things to hold the ends of the top in and also cracked off the lil t handle that has the pin to hold the front of the top in.
Hopefully, you have removed the top by now. Anytime you put it back on, be sure the car is flat and level. If not, it won't align up properly. My 87 had a painted top and before I slid it into the brackets for storage , I put a piece of cloth over the top so not to scratch the paint. Good Luck :seeya
Make sure to tighten all the bolts when you put it back on.
I've heard it isn't a pretty sight if it flys off.
I always lift up on sides to make sure it's attached well.
Enjoy your new ride!
