Red, it's so funny you wrote that because that was exactly what I thought the instant I saw the intake on top of the spare tire.
Dude! mine can't compare to yours.. I think you hired child laborers with tooth brushes to clean yours. :P
Oh no.. now a HSR reminds everyone of Hokies. What have I done?
Once you're feeling better, set aside 30 minutes a day to work on it. You'll be amazed how quickly it comes together. I've had to do this many time due to time constraints, but it always managed to get done.
I do a little bit each morning after work it will be done before you know it. Time limited here also.
I've always found that to work. When I did the timing chain on the 84 a few years back, I was seriously up against it for time, but I didn't want to pop over $900 for the work....so I would set aside 15-30 minutes every day for the car....even if that meant just scraping a gasket off and quitting for the day.
In 3 weeks, the car was back on the road.
I'm doing a major landscaping project on my house right now the same way. I'm amazed at the progress.
That is how my car looked for 3 months over the course of this summer. I hate not being able to drive the damn thing during the nicest time of the year
I feel your pain. My '79 is in a state of partial disrepair because I'm replacing the heater core and rebuilding the HVAC system. Severe back pain stopped me at the point of pulling the dash, then I got hit with a cancer diagnosis. The treatments sapped every bit of strength out of me. I'm hoping on doing what Frizzle says and work 30 minutes a day.

Hang in there all Vetter's with these issues.
Terrible news about the cancer... our thoughts and prayers will be with you for a speedy recovery. Keep fighting!
