C4 rack control valve install?
I'm rebuilding the rack on my C4 because it leaked. I found lots of bad seals and the control valve seals were trashed. I have all the seals in and started to install the control valve with the new nylon seals on it and it feels like they will tear. QUESTION is? I s there an installer sleeve or tool used to put the pinion (control Vavle ) back in or any tech tips out there? I've been all over the internet with no answers..please no replies to buy a rack...the rebuilders and factory replace them ...so how do they do it?

Almost had it together...I spoke to a tech at a rebuilder and he said they use a sleeve. Tapered at the top that compresses the rings as they go in then pull it out. I used a pop can cut to size to fit the inside of the rack but I cut the top seal. SO have to order another ring kit and try again, now that I have it figured out. The shaft seals and rack seals are not a problem. I'll take some pictures when I get the new seal kit.
