YakMaster, you're right! I studied Cliff's picture again, and I see my problem. I'm seeing the reflection of the big nut in Cliff's shiny black paint! I definitely don't have shiny black paint on my hood latches. Sorry!
Another project on the priority list for me! But I did find a lock nut on the top of the mounting plate that prevented me from adjusting the "dagger pin" easily.
