RollaMoLT4 has them. Give him a PM and ask. It seems to me he said they did work when I ask him about them.
Yes, they do help.
The design of the C4 does seem to allow more "wind" into the cabin than most other cars.
The deflectors help with this, but they don't completely eliminate it.

I notice a definite difference when I have the top and windows down
Here is a closeup of a factory unit. You can see why it helps with the noise. My only problem is it rubs against the weather stripping. I dress it now and that seems to help.

Reason: Added Picture
Both of my C4s have the deflectors. They may help, but they do not eliminate the turbulence in the cockpit, so don't expect too much. The wind buffeting in my coupe, in particular, is pretty nasty with the window down. It pounds into my left ear, and annoys me.
One of the PO's of my vette added them and painted body color. Mine are riveted in and don't rub on the ws. If the car hadn't had them I would have added them.
Can anyone tell me if the wind deflectors that attach to the mirrors really work before I buy them for my 86 coupe?
YES! Put them on my '94...seems like it quieted the wind noise a bit. The biggest difference is when I smoke with the window cracked open I don't get a faceful of ashes whipping through that gap.
Mine are riveted on and there is about 1/4" space between it and the weatherstrip.
