Tomorrow my 92 is going back to the dealer for the "final Repair". The digital dash keeps blinking and sometimes it turns off completely, with only the back light on.
When the car was at the dealers lest time he checked it out and told me that he would order me a new digital read out. so thats what happening on monday. Is there anything that I should be worried about with a new dash, Like what will my Odometer read. Thats the only thing I can think might be messed up.
Hello,
My dash did the same thing on my 1990. Just a few days ago I removed it and checked it for any bad or dirty connections. The dash is connected to its wiring harness by a set of pins on the back of the cluster. I found a lot of times just removing the component and cleaning the connectors with a little electrical contact cleaner does the trick. BY the way this fixed the problem.
If you want to give it a try and are not sure how to do it let me know and Iwill walk you through It. Also If you decide to change It out I have found a place that repaires them for about $250.00. Iwas wondering what the dealer quoted you for a new one?
Thanx for the advice, I will try it in the future but this not time. I just bought the car and it was part of my "punch list" for the dealer to fix. :D If I ever have this happen in the future I will surely take ur advice...
If they try to sell you a new cluster, I have one from my 1992 that I am selling for $100.00. It is in perfect working order, and looks great. If you are interested in it let me know.
