I'm 65 have no plan to retire because I love my job. I'm very fortunate financially and can afford any any new car I want to about 120k. Not bragging just a fact. I don't have to worry about a daily driver because my company provides me with a new company car every 3 years for personal use. That being said I still have my 96" LT-4 vert and a 99' E-320 that I bought new. The vett satisfies me need for a sports car in every way and the E any need I might have for a luxury sedan.
Due to age (you asked for old farts) I don't feel the need to trade off good cars for newer good cars.
Years ago when I was young, foolish and literally had more money than sense I traded my purchased new 64' 365 hp coupe for a new 68' Porsche, then that Porsche for a new 72' 911 and so it went... nothing but money spent on marginally better cars, and I still wish I would have kept the 64 coupe.
