Default Winter damage. Ready for spring!

We had a blizzard here yesterday. This morning it had stopped snowing but it was about 3 degrees.

I drove my 94 to work today about 100 miles round trip. The drive was fine, but when I got into the city where I work, a truck dropped a big block of ice right in front of me and I hit it. When I got to work I saw the front center section of the lower air dam broke. It shattered and a big chunk is missing.

I know it is not that expensive to replace, but I really don't like winter.

No comments about my sanity since I lived in Arizona for 15 years and moved back to Illinois and winters anyway.

Sorry for your luck. Vettes are great cars but they do not hold up to obstacles in in road.

Ouch! Yet another reason why my friends tell me to not drive mine in bad weather (and I haven't yet). Don't replace it until Spring, just in case....

It could have been worse at least the C-4's are higher than the C-5's and 6's.

Good thing you're ok. The air dam can be replaced very easily. That blizzard was aweful and like you I'm ready for spring so I can start cruising.

I agree that this winter can't be over too soon. Just a heads up but this Wednesday's weather ( probably should hit your way Thursday) isn't looking great either.

You are right, you had to be nuts to move back here, at least as far as weather anyway. Sucks about the car, we'll have to hook up when things warm up this spring, I live up in Maquoketa.

I just put mine in storage for the winter - just in time for sub zero nights and a nasty storm. Buy a beater for the winter if you can.

Park the C4 for the Winter PPPPlease!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you get stuck in the snow, you'll burn up your transmission........lol

If I drove my Vette in the snow, I know for sure (100%-) that it would be a collision

maybe not the first couple of weeks - BUT- before the winter is over - there would be a wreck or two

And im (55%) sure- that it would be my fault.

PLUS if a Corvette wrecks in the snow, i'm pretty sure its gonna make the news

I can already hear the tow truck driver and the police asking me "what was you doing driving that car dude, it's snowing"

I drive my C4 daily, but when it comes to the snow- I'll walk if I had 2

accident report: Corvette/ Snow/ Broken Fiberglass/ Snowing/ Freeze/ Totaled/ Law Suit/ Claim Denied

Sorry to hear that. My 94 will never see the snow (I live in NJ). It's in my garage with a breathable cover, connected to a battery tender, with a tank full of gas and stabil added. Waiting for the spring.

It's been really cold here too. My DD didn't want to start and I needed to take my daughter to school so I fired up the race car. I live in the country and the road I live on remains snow packed all winter. The race slicks I have on really weren't to bad in the snow. Once I got on the main roads they were fine. I only slid around on my road when I chose too!

Default Every Winter

I live in the Sierras - and replace one to three air dams every spring... it's the little snowballs in the road...

I could drive another car, but what fun would that be?

I just like driving a vette all the time. This one is a daily driver and I expect to use it as a car. It is fun.

I still try to keep it pretty nice though and I visit the wash pretty often. So far I think it looks pretty good.

A C4 is the least expensive to buy Corvette. My 91 is a very nice driver it has a couple minor scratches in the clear coat but waxed shines well a smal separation on the edge orf the driver side seat custion from getting in and out. Other than that a pretty nice car. I bought it to enjoy it and not turn it into a museum piece so when it wears out I will buy another and enjoy driving it as well. At 58 I hope to enjoy and wear out several before i am worn out too. It certainly is not a snow car but it is to use and enjoy car as much as practical.
