Default Wheel Fitment

First of all this is my first post here after purchasing my first Corvette a few days ago. I purchased a 1984 Red C4.

I'm sure this topic has been beaten to death, but my search results didn't help too much. What wheels fit an early C4? I'd hate to go out and buy some sweet C5 or C6 wheels and end up not being able to bolt them on, easily or have them ruin my performance. At the same time I'm not a fan of salad shooters... Any help for this noob C4 owner would be appreciated.

Thanks, that was very helpful. I had found one of those threads previously, but the 84 specific is identical to what I'd like to accomplish.

Im doing the same thing to my 87 and we are going to have the same issue... I have my new C5 wheels and tires mounted up. My plan of attack is going to be to jack up one side of the car remove the factory wheels and put the new ones on, then take a tape measure and measure the distance from the tire outward to my upper fenders and that will give me my spacer thickness that i will need I will take some pictures when I do this, this seems to be a common issue with pre 88 C4 owners

If you are using the front wheels from a C5, those have an offset of 56mm just like the 88-96 C4 wheels. The 84-87 cars used wheels with a 38mm offset. To get the 56mm offset wheels to sit in the wheelwell like the stock 16's, you need 3/4" adapters.

56mm -38mm = 18mm which is 3/4"

For an 84'- the fronts are 32mm and the rear are 32mm or 38mm if Z51 suspension.

Use 1" adapters.

The rears from C5 are 63mm- but you'll be fine using the same 1" adapter.

C6 fronts are the same as C5. C6 Rears are 79mm and would require a 1-1/2" adapter.

C4 Cruiser that was the answer I was looking for. Thank you!

USMC - I saw your post as well, and am thinking of picking up the same wheels and having them powder coated. I'll be patiently waiting to see pics! Thanks man.

I did have an offer to trade 89 wheels (no tires) for my 84 wheels. Looks like I still need spacers and tires though. So... C5 5 spoke I think I'll be looking for.

I picked up a set of almost new '99 wagon wheels. 17x8.5 front & 18x9.5 rear. If I do the math I need a .75" spacer front & 1.25" spacer on the rear. Is that correct?

If I did go 1" all around will the back wheels sit inside too much?

I'm running 275/40 18 rear & 245/45 17 front fro tires on these wheels.
