I recently brought a used vette and from what it looks like most of the hatch assembly was removed..no manual release cable. What do I need to get the hatch opening by the switches in the car. Any pictures would help. Just not sure where to start
The hatch switches on the doors should just work with
the doors open. The hatch button in the console requires
the parking brake to be set or ignition off (manual tranmission)
or the transmission to be in Park or Neutral (automatic). Try
all three switches.
If that doesn't work, check the hatch circuit breaker
on the main fuse block (right hand column, second from
the top). To find the main fuse block, open the passenger's
door, and look at the end of the instrument panel. It's
behind a plastic door.
If that doesn't work check at the console switch.
The brown (or brown/white) wire should show +12V
relative to ground. The tan/white wire should show
0V and 0 ohms to ground.
Let us know what you find.

I'm trying to post some pictures but not sure how I do that on this site..When I open the console I see cut wires. But when the button is pushed it makes a clicking noise same for the door switch.
What's the color code of the cut wires (main color and
any stripe)?
Where's the clicking coming from? The back? Then
that's likely the hatch release relay. It's located a bit
to the passenger's side of and just below where that
hatch latches. If it's clicking, that's a good sign.
The hatch relay's job is to send power via the black
wire to the hatch release solenoid, which is located
about 8" below where the hatch latches. Check that
wiring.
Yes the clicking is coming from the relay. The wires cut are black, orange, and green. After seeing some pictures I'm missing the front piece on the hatch where the manual release wire goes. I'm guessing thats the solenoid I'm missing. My question is with those cut wires will the hatch still work. And I can buy a used hatch release with a solenoid and get this hatch to work?
