Personally, I use the Canon T2i DSLR and have a Fuji F50fd that I can put in my pocket. No small camera will come close to matching the quality of a DSLR, especially in low light, but the sacrifice is cost and size. Don't be swayed be megapixels - think of them in terms of film, with more pixels being the equivalent of finer grain film. Think of an old cheap junk 35mm camera compared to a 35mm Leica or Nikon - both will take the same fine grain film, but the results are dramatically different due to lens quality and other attributes.
Panasonic Lumix TS2
I purchased it because my point and shoots were not lasting! Between dusty sensors, water damage, lens not closing error, etc I had enough... I really like the camera and Amazon has them for $300 and free shipping! C
Check it out!
