my 86 wont start unless i put my foot on the pedal and when i let go it dies.new fuel pump, strainer, damper, filter, injectors,de leted ninth injector new pressure regulater diapham, cap, rotor, module, plugs, wire and ecm, what could it be( please help)
Altho I have had my '92 for over 2 years, I freely admit to not knowing everything. What, please explain, is a "deleted ninth injector"? First time I've heard that term.
85 -88 TPI had a special (9th ) injector that only injected fuel on cold starts.
Later TPI didn't
Thank you! Always good to learn something new. I gather - from the OP's saying the 9th injector had been removed, as if it was a good thing - that they were prone to problems? How does something like that factor into what he is describing as his current problem?
Throttle position sensor or Idle Air Control maybe?
Classic IAC problem.
take it out and clean it and see what happens. Make sure you reset it when you reninstall it. There was someone a while back that had the same issue and I didn't think about then but I still wonder of he didn't reset the IAC when he put in a new one.
If you look around and do a search there's a ton of info on cleaning the IAC and resetting it.

What is your TPS Volts?
IAC has no effect on starting ; only controls idle
That's what he said. If he gives it throttle it will start, when he let's off the throttle it won't idle and it dies. The TPS knows where the throttle is and bypasses the IAC when he gives it throttle. Isn't that correct?
Mine did the same exact thing when the IAC went south

Sometimes , in some cases aftermarket runners have no provision for the CSI

It doesn't if he is running the tune from a later TPI car that supplies cold start fuel from the main injectors
instead of the seperate Cold Start Injector ( CSI )

hey guys i just order the TPS and IAC from rockauto.com.Ill try them and see what happens, thank you for all the info.I will post what happen, thanks again
IIRC, you start the car by giving it slight throttle, let it run for ten seconds and then just turn it off while holding the throttle in place.
Don't order the TPS until you clean the IAC to determine that's the cause.
Please, unless you just want to throw parts at it. I doubt the TPS is your problem. That's why the car will run with you giving it throttle. For lack of a better way of saying it, the TPS already knows where the throttle is and bypasses the IAC, as it's no longer needed.
You need the IAC for idle only. Hope this makes sense.
