Default Temperture Differences - City vs. Freeway Driving

This is a survey.

Assume your 'Vette is at normal operating temperature.

By how much do you see the temperture increase when you are driving in stop-and-go or in city traffic compared to the coolant's temperture on the freeway at freeway speeds?

(What is the etiquette here, does the forum prefer votes are private, public, or no difference?)

(Is this a useful survey?)

Yeah, socalman, polls can be a good tool to find out information from the collective knowledge and experience of the forum's readers.

Before I bought my first Vette three months ago, I lurked around this forum for a while. One question then was about the normal operating temperature for a Vette. Having just flushed my cooling system, and now watching the temp gauge for every little change, I'm curious about the "normal" operating range.

By polling on the difference between city and freeway driving, I can eliminate temperature variations due to season, location, or weather.

Maybe the poll will be useful to someone in the future. You seem to have a good reputation here; I respect your opinion. Do you think this poll might be useful to the Corvette owners here?

And in where in this ridiculous poll are you going to assimilate this type of information? As long as the engine operates in the "Safe" zone, WGAF

He wants to know if he should buy a 160 stat, aluminum radiator, to remove the stat, keep the OEM or use water wetter.

His plan is to start a new Antifreeze Vs. Zerex Vs. DexCool thread after he closes this poll.

Who was the member that wrote down about his next door neighbor's dog drinking dexcool?

My car can sit and idle all day at a stop light, or run down the interstate at highway speeds.

Stop light will of course be warmer than highway speed.
But as long as they are both within the designed limits of the cooling system, all is good.

Hey the stuff tastes delightful....until the seizures and CNS paralysis set in.....and then the day goes downhill pretty quickly.

Hmmmmm......I know there are a couple of stray cats prowling the neighborhood lately.....

Oh yeah....definitely do that. GM doesn't know crap about engineering cooling systems. If it runs over 220 degrees ever, it needs all of that.

Define the upper and lower bounds of the "Safe" zone to everyone's edification.

There is no "I like pie" option, therefore this poll is invalid.

Your car needs a 160 degree thermostat and DexCool.

I think you'd be better suited to a Corvair.
