Not sure if an 88 C-4 counts as a garage find, but my wife was helping her friend move out of her house last month. She noticed a car in the garage. Wife could not tell what type of car it was because it of all the boxes and junk covering it. Her friend told her if she could get it out of the garage today, she could have it for $1200.00. She started moving boxes and seen the Corvette emblem on the hood, she called me and told me come over and get it started. I had it running in 20 minutes and sitting in our driveway.
The Good:
Body is straight and needs a good cleaning and buffing out.
Engine runs good for having 150,000 miles
The dash works.
Fresh set of tires.
Passed Cal Smog test.
The price.
The Bad:
Convertible top needs to be replaced, house cat was using it as a bed.
The inside of the car was used as mobile ashtray, need replacing.
Seats are worn out, need to be replaced.

Looks pretty nice for only $1200. But it has "lazy eye" syndrome.
If the convertible top isn't ripped anywhere, why not just clean it up instead of replacing it? Buff that paint out a bit, do a little clean & detail on the interior and you will have yourself a pretty nice C4.
This is NOT the normal situation. The woman who is selling this car knows nothing about the value of Corvettes. Even on Craigslist this car would bring $3000 as is. Personally I would feel quilty giving her $1200 for such a car when I knew its worth over triple that. But thats just me. Enjoy it you lucky son of a gun.

Yea, feel guilty for about a minite, then take the car and run...It seems she didn't even care what kind of car it was by telling his wife she could have it for $1,200 without even checking it out. Sounds like she just wants it out of there..Enjoy it and don't look back.. I can tell you the interior will cost about $2,500 to completely replace, that includes plastic on dash and console, carpet , seats and door panels. I just replaced all this on my 89 and I shopped around for the best prices...Wilcox is your friend.....WW
Nice find. I would not feel guilty. The seller is probably very grateful that she is rid of it without the hassle of having to deal with all kinds of idiots. I call it a win-win. You did not suggest the price, she did and you gave her what she asked for. Both parties are happy. After all, it is just a 20+ year old used car.Now if it was a Stingray, well...
Now thats a nice find on the cheap that doesnt appear to be thrashed.
RED85Z51, this is what you need to keep an eye out for. Hed love that one!

This is a prime reason why you should drive these cars and not save em, the next person/spouse/kid will just off your baby for peanuts and care less about it.
