Re: vats problem...need help (Dave84/76)
Checking the resistance is easy if you have a multimeter. Just read between the little tabs on both sides of the key.
I always known that but could never figure out what to do next. I don't remember there are sometinhg like 10 to 20 diffrent values, each with a number value from one to 10 ? 20? whatever. Anyhow once you have the number in oms how do you convert it?
I think the owners book said you have to take it to the dealer and have him put it in a special key reader which gives the number value so you don't have to translate the oms value

RED88Z51,
You have mail. List for key code by ohnic restistance.
I had a red 88 4+3 coupe for 11 years. Gave it to my son almost 3 years ago.
Graet car. had 128K miles on it and it was still very sound.
thanks for the replies...someone had told me that you need to take the car down as well, along with the key. anyway onward and upward...has anybody encountered this problem and has the new key solved it?
by the way patriot...sorry but i didn't get your mail...but thanks for trying!
