Default Brake Pad Preference

fairly new owner.... I need front pads on my base coupe.

three brands of ceramics seem to show up most often...

EBC redstuff 3000
Hawk performance
AC Delco dura stop

i am very easy on brakes, and want to minimize dust.

any strong preferences out there?
many thanks.

I went with the AC Delco pads. Super expensive, but the ones I had starting making sounds after a few years. No dust.

Akebono invented the ceramic pad and as you would imagine they are quite good! The power stop evolution ceramic pads that we sell are similar in their friction characteristics and low dust/low noise operation. We have them on sale now for $30/axle - feel free to PM me for details.

This is the pad you want Carbotech bobcat 1521. I offer 7% forum discount. Contact me at 216-780-8825 to place an order. I will be happy to answer any questions. Front $138 less 7%.

The Carbotech Bobcat 1521™ is our high performance street compound that is our most successful compound. The Bobcat compound is known for its awesome release and modulation, along with unmatched rotor friendliness. Like our AX™ & XP™ line of compounds, Bobcat 1521™ is a Ceramic based friction material offering minimal rotor damage and non corrosive dust. Bobcat 1521™ offers outstanding performance, even when cold, low dusting and low noise with an excellent initial bite. This compound’s virtually perfect linear torque production provides incredible braking force without ABS intervention. Bobcat 1521™ operating range starts out at ambient and goes up to 900°F. Bobcat 1521™ is suitable for ALL street cars, perfect for your tow vehicle, police cruiser, and has won multiple SCCA Solo 2 and Prosolo National Championships. The Bobcat 1521™ compound has been found to last two-three times longer than OE pads you can purchase at a dealership or national retailer. Bobcat 1521™ compound has also been found to extend the life of your rotors 2-3 times. That’s one of the beauties of Carbotech Ceramic brake compounds. Bobcat 1521™ is NOT recommended for any track use.

You will not beat this pad dollar for dollar. The stoping power and low dust is something that has been unmatched. Check out this quote

I have used Carbotech brakes in extremely severe use in my autocross VWs and Neon ACR for over a decade. They are simply fantastic. Incredible grip, no fade, and their ability to take punishment and last for more than one season is simply outstanding. They modulate so well that it is akin to braking with your brain rather than your foot. Of all the things that I have to monitor on those cars, the brakes are not one of them.

If all the automotive products out there were of the same quality as Carbotech brakes, the world would be a lot better off.

From this post http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c1-a...-and-pads.html

There are many more you can do a serch on bobcat 1521. I will say we our not the cheapst pad on the market but we build a 100% American made brake pad that is one hell of a product and hard to beat!
