Default Electrical help

Last week the car was broken into and the radio removed. Insurance is paying for the repairs, but I hold no hope that the shop has as much info as you guys.

Here is the problem:
No interior lights
Turn on the head lights (first or second position) and the digi dash goes dark, with the lights off its normal.
The light on the rearview mirror that is supposed to come on with the headlights does not come on. The light that is controlled by a switch works fine.
Biggest problem - the electonic ac/heat controls are dead. I mean dead, can't even get the vent to turn on

Any ideas as to what needs to be fixed? Will putting a radio in make it all work again? Change the fuses?

Thanks in advance

If they ripped the radio out you can pretty much bet that other wires were pulled as well. All the wires should be checked to make sure they haven't been pulled or cut. There is a good chance there are fuses blown. You can easily check them just by looking at them. I wouldn't sign off with the insurance company untill it is fixed and you have used it for a good week. There is a chance one thing may be working fine untill you turn something else on at the same time and have a fuse blow. Pull the panel off the pass side door for the fuses, pull one at a time and look at it. If it is blown you usually will see a black mark on the inside of the plastic and the metal strand inside with be broken. Good luck

Ab-so-freakin-lootly right!!!! Make sure things are fixed to your satisfaction BEFORE you sign off...and that will take a little shake-down period. Don't sign NOTHIN' til then'cause they ain't gonna do squat AFTER!

Are there any other fuses hidden away behind the dash?

Lots of good info, and I don't intend to let them off the hook until I'm happy with it.

There is one behind the Center infomation cluster...Its for the alarm system. There also may be inline fuses if it was an aftermarket radio. You may also want them to check the 2 cables that plug into the Dash Cluster, they may have been pulled loose.

Didn't your alarm go off when they broke in?

If it did, it did not wake me up. I assume it did, I tested the system yesterday when I had the top off. Even though the "security" light isn't comming on it still works the way it was designed - open the doors without using the key and the horns sound. Its just the horns are not very loud, and I sleep real soundly.
I did see an air horn setup that might be loud enough to wake the dead though :jester
