Default show condition

Just curious, my 95 coupe is completely stock and
clean inside and out.

What do they mean when they say show ready condition?

Thats when its extremely clean.

The paint is polished and waxed.
All weatherstrip is in excellent condition.
The wipers' arms are black.
The engine bay is cleaned up with Q-tips, rags, armor all.
All aluminum polished with mothers.
All wheels cleaned up in and out.
Brake Calipers clean.
Inner fenders clean and shinny.
The inside is totally vacuumed, clean and dust free.

Other members with chime in. There are different show categories to include peoples choice, concurs, wash & show, stock and modified etc.

I had an encounter with my Ex-Corvette Club. They were cheating on their own show and I lost respect for Corvette Shows, the club and the people involved.

I'll be glad to tell you.

It was a people's choice show and I was competing modified. All started with a 82 Two Tone and a 96 Grand Sport I voted for that day. The C3 was very unique, clean and the other C3s there were no match for it. The Grand Sport and I have been on 10+ shows together, we knew each other and always voted for each other because the GS was stock and Betty Boop lost her virginity the day I met her (stock and modified).

While the club's VP was announcing the awards, he never called the 82 or GS I voted for and that was extremely strange to me... Not even a third place.

I demanded to know how many votes they collected and this guy's answer was "zero". Now, we all know that in a people's choice show at least you'll get one vote, the vote you give yourself because I don't think there is a Vette owner that would give up their own vote to someone else. In addition to that, I voted for them and that really bothered me. There were other issues, the NCCC rep's Vette was a dirty C5 and won 3rd place. That was total political BS.

That evening I was going to e-mail the NCCC but, I gave the club an opportunity to handle the problem. I e-mailed the entire Board of Directors, The President at the time was fired up, he investigated and there were five Corvettes that were robbed out of their awards.

Pretty good description. If used to describe a car for sale, I suspect it could be another of those often abused terms like "restored" "rare" "mint condition" "never seen snow or rain" ect.

I also grew tired of car shows with the Brit cars. Not because of cheating but just makes for a long boring day. I only do two a year now. Track days or driving in the mountains is more fun.

I was involved with our British Car Day and never encountered cheating. Not to say some of the vote counters couldn't have made errors due to

You can ask for the judging sheets if it is a judged show. Found that out after I got screwed. Last show I did my car was not even judged but when I said something they said "don't worry you got something" They gave me 2nd and I was going to announce to the crowd when receiving the trophy what was going on but my wife begged me not to say anything. They missed the point of my hard work.
PLRX description is a good one.

That's all that needed to be said.
They all boil down to a popularity contest every time.
I don't even bother going to any shows, unless it is a judged show.
100 Point judging system seems to be the most fair.
Different group of judges for each category.
Engine Compartment: Max 20 Points
Paint/Body: Max 20 Points
Interior: Max 20 Points
Tires/Wheels: Max 20 Points
Suspension/Undercarriage: Max 20 Points.

And even those turn out to have a little drama now and then.

Trust me, it's the same with just about all of them. The same thing happens in the MOPAR world.

There are 2 shows that I would go to and no longer go. Both these shows were put on by different clubs. I never saw anyone who was not a member of the club win. Just saying!!! And I know there were better cars and none got even a 3rd. Not accusing but strange.

Not strange really if it was popular vote. Club members mostly vote for their buddies. Just human nature. I was actually chairman of our show for 3 years. I take any car show result with a grain of salt. Our show does make a good deal of money for the charity so that is good.

These days, if I wanna brag about something, a good number at the track interests me more. No disputing that. It is what it is.

I just go to informal car shows and cruise-ins. Way more fun and no pressure. I do not like judged shows for the above reasons. That and people always have attitudes. I hate that.

Also, I hate that a lot of those cars and trailer-ed, or mostly garage queens. Stupid.

Now guys that have the time to drive and we a waxer, I have total respect for. How you find the time is beyond me. I keep my car clean but not "show car" clean.

I think "real" car shows a car should be driven in and home. Also, you must show proof of road course, auto-x, and or drag strip use. Then judge it. I got time slips, where is yours???

Means that you don't have to clean it up for at least a couple of days.

That's exactly what I was thinking!

Every time I see that avatar my mind goes into some kind of daze.

All I can think of is those simple yet complex curves that are "perfect"

Who's butt is that and will she marry an old bald guy?

It should look as close to brand new as possible. Show(room) condition...like it's not been driven yet.

My club does the judging at The Strictly Corvette Show in AC
we judge just how Rollo Mo said but it does not work when politicts take over. My team judge a purple C3 low, it was not a stock color he had a nose bra on we asked to remove it and he would not said it was a option that year. He went and talked to the show owner and our president and to our amazement his car won 1st place in the stock C3 class.
